RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Surveying – Exam Only


New exam only option for asbestos surveyors

Those asbestos surveyors who have received training to gain the knowledge and understanding for surveying buildings for asbestos, as well as gaining experience and skills for carrying out all types of asbestos surveyors, can now choose to undertake one day of assessments, to gain the RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Surveying.

This Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) qualification has been designed and developed around HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide. This RSPH asbestos surveying qualification is approved by the qualification’s regulator, Ofqual.

This qualification is recognised by UKAS for this purpose of RG 8, ‘Accreditation of Bodies Surveying for Asbestos in Premises’, which states that all asbestos surveyors must hold formal recognised qualifications (in addition to demonstrable knowledge, experience and in-house training).

Candidates are assessed on their practical competence and take a written exam (short answer questions), which is set and administered in conjunction with RSPH.

The units covered are:

Management in asbestos in buildings
Asbestos surveying
Bulk sampling of asbestos
Decontamination (use of actual DCUs) and H-type vacuum cleaners during asbestos surveys
On successful completion of the exam and practical assessment candidates will be awarded a nationally recognised RSPH certificate.

Candidates are required to have prior knowledge of all areas which are defined within the syllabus, available in the Qualification Information booklet, before attendance and have practical experience to be able to undertake the assessments.

One-day at an ATaC centre.

  • For Members, the fee is £180 (exc vat) and a registration fee of £86 per candidate
  • For Non-Members the fee is £195 (exc vat) and a registration fee of £86 per candidate
