ATAC Chairman's Autumn Report03/11/2010 : go back The analytical and surveying industry does appear to have experienced the usual busy period over the summer months. The majority of comments I have heard relate to a shortage of good quality analysts and surveyors. However, the association’s members are still looking to the next 6 to 12 months with caution. The inevitable government cuts that are due are going to impact on some level. We do know that the HSE will be releasing the new Analysts Guide and ATAC have had some input; we await with interest the final document. It is not clear how this will affect the industry technically and financially, but the hope would be that once we have fought through the thistles and weeds that the increased publicity will bring some increased awareness. The ATAC Golf Day was played amongst the deer at the Marriot Forest of Arden, which is a beautiful course and we were treated well. We would hope to increase numbers for next year and grow this event and also place on more events for the association members and their clients. If anyone would like a specific event placing on please contact Ian Stone. Since my involvement has increased, Ian and I have met to discuss implementing the ideas we have to make ATAC an association that increases in prominence as a result of the effort the members put in and the subsequent rise in quality. We are under pressure from the HSE to improve quality in our industry and we want ATAC membership to be part of the indication of quality. This leads nicely on to the courses that Ian has been developing over the last few months and the new ones that we hope to follow on. The courses will provide a credible alternative to those already in the market place as well as training that will benefit individuals within your organisations. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind members that you can advertise on the ATAC website your services, including areas covered etc and there is also now an area where you may place job vacancies. Please contact Ian Stone on ian.stone@atac.org.uk for further information. |
