ATaC Marching Forward

2009 has been an unusual year for all concerned due to the economic climate. Despite this ATaC has made significant steps towards achieving our main objectives: mainly to heighten awareness of the ATaC brand, through media coverage, - National television coverage in March 2009, ATaC website and continued communication with government bodies/professional associations to help to improve the opportunity of work for our members, give greater information of our member’s services to industry and to continue the professional development of our membership.

I am pleased to announce that ATaC has achieved many of its short term goals in 2009, thanks to the hard work and support of:

• The ATaC members for their continued support, and particularly their support for the social events and the national roads shows;
• the ATaC committee members;
• the ARCA governing council;
• the staff of ARCA managed by Steve Sadley;
• and our valued sponsors’. OCEAN PRINT, HSE, FUTURE SELECT and HOWDENS INSURANCE.

Due to the progress of ATaC in 2009 and the increased interest in ATaC services, ATaC is now in a position to seek a full time membership manager. An individual to fill this position should be in place by October 2009. The full time ATaC Membership Manager will be tasked with delivering the ATaC Business Plan the next phase of which is to:

• Continue with further road shows in 2010;
• continue the development of the ATaC website;
• assist the improvements of new guidance and legislation with the HSE;
• introduce mandatory training workshops for our members and to offer members a wider range of training courses; and;
• continue to strive to ensure that ATaC members are seen as the first choice for clients looking to procure asbestos consultancy services from professionals with a culture of continuous improvement.

I hope to be introducing the new ATaC membership manager in the next issue of ARCA & ATaC Journal outlining his or her aims and objectives for their first 12 months.
